Hey kid, show me your sports ID card

It seems that the new trend in youth sports is to issue photo ID cards to coaches and players. This is a great way for all to verify that a kid is the correct age and eliglble for the game that they are playing. There is nothing worse than when the other team brings in the minor league ringer and tries to pass them off as a 12 year old boy. To read more about this topic, check out this article here.

What happens to all those used ID printers?

Logo_leafHave you ever wondered what happens to the old ID card printer that you traded in for a shiny new one? Well, if you traded it to IRIS, you can be assured that it didn’t just go into a landfill. Every component that arrives at our location is checked for useful spare parts (for printers where parts are no longer available) and then stored for a semi annual trip to a professional recycling facility.

Twice a year, the local government (Berks County) runs an electronics recycling event. This is the perfect place to recycle old ID card printers, PolaroidImage_050_2 film based camera systems and non functional computers. At this year’s event, over 150 electronic items were spared from the IRIS trash pile.

The recycling efforts do not stop there. Since our opening in the early ‘80s, IRIS has strived to recycle or reuse the vast majority of resources that are used in daily operations.

  • Aluminum & plastic food containers are 100% recycled
  • Single side printed sheets of paper are reused for in-house document printing or scrap paper.
  • Reuse shipping boxes
  • Paperclips: yep…we recycle them too

ISCWest 2008 is over...

ISCWest 2008 is now over and every one is home. But what happend to days 2 and 3 update you may ask? Irisballoon_2 Quite frankly, the show was so good this year that we didn't have time to update. While we recieved many compliments on the new booth and badge reel balloon, we would have had a very empty space if it weren't for the great products that were showcased in our booth. We would like to thank the following companies for helping make ISCWest 2008 one of the best shows in memory:

For more information on any of the products from these manufacturers or the IRIS line of lanyards, badge reels, badge holders, and ID card printers and supplies, please contact one of our fine customer support specialists at IRIS (800-453-IRIS)

Lanyard Tax! What's next?

DeepdishChicago approved perhaps the most strange tax that I have heard of in a long time...a 25% city tax on lanyards. With the price of gas going up, and now this...how will anyone in Chicago be able to afford thier deep dish pizza?

RFID School ID Cards - The Next Great Leap

The Sarasota County school system is going to launch a full out RFID based ID card for all of thier students this fall. This is an excellent way to track your students through out the day to make sure that they are where they need to be. While many schools still use barcodes or magnetic stripes for the library and school lunches, this is the next evolutionary step is securing our educational facilities and consolidating technology. To read more about this project, check out the article printed in the Sarasota Sun-Herald.

Lanyards - a deadly weapon?

I must say that I found this womans use of a lanyard more than disturbing. If your going to wear a lanyard, you should think about getting one that will break apart in an emergency. To find out more about safety breakaway lanyards and water bottle holders for your next trip to The Magic Kingdom, contact one of our top notch customer service reps at Attachmentville.com

Unfashionable, Plain and Boring Lanyards?

Deluxeprintlanyards We have a feeling that neither the author of the article below or the two moms that have created the  BooJee Bead lanyards have ever experienced the really cool lanyards the come out of Attachmentville.com.

They're unfashionable, plain and boring. But for most business people, they're an office necessity.

Whether you've been forced to wear one while attending a conference or tradeshow, or you need one simply to enter your office building, chances are you've worn a lanyard sporting your credentials. Thanks to the prevalence and tackiness of rope lanyards, two sister-in-laws decided to create more stylish, colorful necklaces they named BooJee Beads, after the nickname of one of their children.
